MARC Technologies Introduces NESCO High Pressure Misting Systems

 

 

DSI’s NESCO DustPro High Pressure Spray Systems control dust by producing a highly atomized mist that suppresses airborne particulates at the source of generation, and adds from 0.2% to 0.5% moisture by weight to the process to prevent visible dust emissions from downstream operations. The system is water only, and produces water particles fine enough to effectively knock down visible dust, but also force the controlled amount of water into the product. Controlled moisture addition in key areas such as truck dumps, crushing and transfer points also minimises dust issues within downstream processes.

These systems can be supplied as a standalone system to tackle a single problem area, or as a cost effective entire plant system that takes into account the various processes and treats accordingly to eliminate the dust issue.

 

How High Pressure Misting Systems Work

The pump module consists of a high-pressure pump/high speed motor integrated with an electrical control system, which forces water at 130Kpa into a manifold discharging to output lines. The pump discharge manifold is fitted with a pressure gauge and each output line is equipped with a solenoid valve to activate sprays in each zone.  Each output line is capable of driving multiple nozzles, making the system very flexible to cope with many different configurations. Upgrading of the system by changing out the pump module is also possible, keeping the existing infrastructure and adding extra capacity and circuits with a new module.

The high pressure means that the system will force a small amount of water into the product, not wet the top surface and flood the process, which is the case with traditional lower pressure sprays. Blinding of screens, carryback on conveyors and sticking of product to crushing faces and belts does not happen and the material moisture addition is controlled. Positioning and type of nozzles is critical, but can also be adjusted to suit the process, there are several nozzle types used for different applications and materials, and a settling in period where the optimal design with the most appropriate nozzles are determined is often the case to get the best out of the system. The system features filtration on the feed water which eliminates nozzle blockages in most cases, however if the supply water is particularly bad then filtration options on the supply line on a separate skid are also available.

Pump motor start and stop functions are automatic, and can be controlled using interlocking switches or sensors from the plant control system.  If a remote panel is fitted, all controls for each of the circuits and all indication can be seen and operated from a control room.  In the event water supply is interrupted, the flow switch at the pump inlet will sense no flow, automatically shut off the pump motor, and alert the operator.

DSI uses quality components such as Grundfos pumps, ASCO solenoids and Bete nozzles. Nozzle options include brass, stainless steel, tungsten carbide tipped or full tungsten carbide nozzles which provide wear resistance for water with highly abrasive contaminant.
