Dynaflow Fume Cupboards

Design Dynaflow aerodynamic fume cupboards meet exacting standards and recommendations for safety and containment in the laboratory. The Dynaflow Fume Cupboard complies with the Australian (AS 2243.8) and UK (BS 7258) standards and is manufactured wholly in Australia. The Dynaflow design has been independently tested using tracer gas and has been certified to comply with BS 7258 Type test.

The cupboards incorporate a one piece moulded chamber (protected by a design registration in Australia and the UK) with radiused corners. The smooth interior and elimination of joints reduces contamination by chemicals or bacteria. It has excellent aerodynamic characteristics with negligible pressure losses through the cupboard itself. The material used is a special self extinguishing, high heat and corrosion resistant, reinforced plastic, complying with AS 1530, part 3,1973.

The Dynaflow Fume Cupboard is designed to purposely overhang a standard 750 mm deep bench to allow an operator to work close to the fume cupboard without obstruction from the under-bench
.

Chamber

The one piece moulded chamber has an aerodynamically shaped roof which is contoured towards a rectangular extraction outlet to assist in an even extraction rate across the width of the opening. It has large radiused corners and contains no exposed fixing bolts. The white colour assists in evenly illuminating the working area and gives the operator a pleasant working environment.

Light

The completely sealed fluorescent light is mounted in a purpose made moulded cover on the exterior of the chamber. It illuminates the interior of the work area via a transparent armour-plate glass panel, which is set flush with the interior of the chamber to avoid disturbing the smooth air flow inside the chamber. This moulded cover, complete with light fitting, can be removed without disturbing the interior of the fume cupboard or the transparent panel.

Facia

The fume cupboard's facia is aerodynamically shaped to ensure an even flow of air in the chamber. The light and fan switches, together with Syncroflow 'Auto' and 'Boost' switches, are contained in an electronic module with graphic status. The module is flush mounted on the front facia.

Work beds

The specially designed removable work bed is flat and, due to its special design, does not require drip-cups or troughs for the draining of liquids. This gives a maximum available working surface. The work can be removed to reveal a full width moulded sump fitted with a waste outlet. The standard work is made from a special highly chemical resistant, laboratory grade, melamine formaldehyde resin and is mounted on buffers above the full-width sump. Should the work become damaged, it can be turned over to give a new working surface.

Sash

The counter-balanced sash windows are of the vertically sliding sash type supported on stainless steel cables and running on four ball bearing pulleys. The sash windows are made from 6mm toughened glass. As an option the sash glass can be covered with a special safety film.

The sash has purpose made moulded plastic handles and comes complete with a full length contoured aerofoil section to ensure a smooth flow into the chamber at this point.

Alternative works from a variety of materials together with additional sinks and covers can be supplied on request.

Services

Various remote controlled services can be fitted to the sides of the fume cupboard facia. All handles are fitted with service identification in writing and colour coding to the International Standard, DIN 12920. All internal outlets are mounted on the side walls to retain maximum working area and are colour coded with an electrostatically applied epoxy finish. All service fittings are of the Armitage Shanks Marklab range specially made for Austlab to comply with Australian Standards. They have a flow regulating facility. Compressed air, gas, nitrogen, vacuum, etc. control valves incorporate floating stainless steel needles which self-align into the seat.

Services are pre-plumbed within the fume cupboard with braided stainless steel flexible hoses, approved by the Water Board and the Australian gas Association. A tail is left with a BSP fitting for easy connection to the main service by the site plumber.

Options

By-Pass

All fume cupboards that are not supplied with the Syncroflow Sash control system are normally fitted with a concealed  by-pass system, to control the velocity at the lower sash opening position. With the sash fully raised, the by-pass system is completely sealed off to give all the available extraction through the sash opening for maximum safety. The extraction rate from the fume cupboard remains constant irrespective of the position of the sash.

Back Baffle

The chamber of the fume cupboards is normally supplied with a specially designed back baffle containing no exposed fixing bolts. It is removable for cleaning purposes. This special back baffle allows for the whole chamber to be scavenged whether heavy or light corrosive fumes are present. The back baffle is recommended if it is anticipated that a lot of heavier-than-air fumes are to be used continuously in the fume cupboard.
Dynaflow Support Cupboards
The support units are manufactured from timber, finished in white laminate, or epoxy coated steel, complete with doors, handles and adjustable shelf. It has a removable back for access to any service mounted on the wall behind it. The support cupboards are also specially designed to house the Dynaflow recycling tank, pump, etc. on a specially moulded spillage tray when used in conjunction with the Dynaflow Fume Scrubber.
Wash Down Spray

The cupboards can be fitted with a spray bar, usually mounted behind the back baffle. The spray bar is activated by a remote controlled valve fitted to the facia. This wash down spray assists in decontaminating the chamber behind the back baffle after using perchloric acid, etc. It can also be made to operate automatically via the Dynasafe Control System.

Air Quantity

For Dynaflow Fume Cupboards which are not fitted with the Syncroflow Sash System, the following minimum air quantities are required based on a face velocity of 0.5 m/s.

    * Dynaflow 1200 311 l/s
    * Dynaflow 1500 405 l/s
    * Dynaflow 2000 561 l/s
    * Dynaflow 2400 685 l/s

Note the above air quantities can be diversified significantly by using the Syncroflow Sash System

Hand Held Wash Down Spray

The fume cupboards can be supplied with a hand held wash down spray, mounted on the side of the fume cupboard, to assist the operator in washing the internal surfaces of the fume cupboard when perchloric acid or other dangerous acids are being used. The spray outlet is activated by a remote controlled valve mounted on or adjacent to the fume cupboard.
The spray may also be used as a safety shower in case of splashes reaching the operator.

Additional Sink  The fume cupboard base can be fitted with a sink moulded into the standard full width concealed sump. The work is cut to expose the sink and a replaceable cover is supplied to retain the uncluttered work when not in use.

Dynasafe Control System  Dynaflow fume cupboards are supplied with the Dynasafe Control System.

This electronic flush mounted control panel complies with the latest Australian Standards AS2243-8, 1992 and AS2430-3, 1991.

Pre Wiring

All the electrical controls and components can be pre wired to AS3000 to input and output terminals for site electricians. This avoids a site electrician working under cramped conditions on a product with which he may not be conversant.
